Key Bets & Races for October 21/22

Friday, October 21

Pin Oak Valley View Stakes - Race #9 at Keeneland– Approx. Post 5:30 PM ET

Azaelia may be a standout in this year's Valley View Stakes on class alone. In her last start, Azaelia just finished 4th of 16 in the French Oaks with both the winner and runner-up coming back to win off those efforts. She finished 2nd in a Group 3 stakes before that, the class of a group 3 in Europe superior to the class of a North American Grade 3 stakes like this one. Geroux takes the call and repeating any of her last two efforts in France should be good enough to win even though her North American competition is very talented. My Impression won like a good thing in the Commonwealth Oaks last month, a grade 3 stakes just like this one. She's now 4 for 7 in her career and Jose Ortiz has been aboard for 3 of her 4 career wins. The 103 Equibase Figure earned in the Oaks is best among those that have run in North America, but nowhere near the 121 figure equivalent Azaelia having earned in the French Oaks. Sassy Little Lila gets a longshot look to win and a big look to be part of the exacta or trifecta if she gets in from the also-eligible list as she won easily by 5 lengths at Saratoga in her most recent start and has shown improvement since debuting in June. The 99 figure was solid and she was flattered when the 3rd finisher won her next start. Linda may not be disadvantaged by her outside post as she can drop back early to save ground then come around the field as she did in her most recent start when rallying from 7th to win for her 2nd victory in a row, both on grass. Her last race 99 figure is on par with most of the main contenders as it is, but like many in here she still has improving to do as a 3 year old. Cheekaboo comes from dead last much of the time, such as last month when 12th with a quarter mile to go and beaten 2 lengths at the end. She won a stakes on Turf in May and the Grade 2 Honeymoon Stakes in June so on occasion she has demonstrated the kind of ability that can win this race. As such, she rounds out a quintet of contenders. Tin Type Gal, Triple Chelsea and Quidura can be considered contenders for second and third on exacta and trifecta tickets played.

Bet Late Spring to win at odds of 3 to 2 or higher. Consider a second, but smaller, win bet on My Impression at 5/2 or higher. Small ($5 or less) win bets can be made on Sassy Little Lila, Linda and Cheekaboo at 4 to 1 or more.

Play an exacta consisting of Azaelia and My Impression over Azaelia, My Impression, Sassy Little Lila, Linda, Cheekaboo, Tin Type Gal, Triple Chelsea and Quidura.

Play an exacta box consisting of Azaelia, My Impression and Sassy Little Lila.

Play an trifecta consisting of Azaelia and My Impression over Azaelia, My Impression, Sassy Little Lila, Linda, Cheekaboo, Tin Type Gal, Triple Chelsea and Quidura over Azaelia, My Impression, Sassy Little Lila, Linda, Cheekaboo, Tin Type Gal, Triple Chelsea and Quidura.

A rare occurance for us, as none of our top picks sealed a win on Opening Night. We move onto Night #2 at Delta Downs in hopes of bringing our ROI back to positive - current ROI for our top pick is 56% with W/P/S, and 0% for straight wins. A disappointing opener for us, but that's why we have a full meet! Let's get into tonight's card.

Roy Steele International Handicapper and www.horsewhispererusa.com, gets straight back into the bread and butter racing at Woodbine after the big International days racing on Sunday. The way Ken Ramsey is performing this year at Woodbine he will be running for Parliment here pretty soon. Thats the Queens Plate and the Pattison International two Million dollar races he captured this year. Says something for his organisation when he can produce two horses to perform like that and away from his traditional tracks down south especially his home track of Keeneland. Maker his trainer knows how to prep a horse for the big races thats for sure.

The Queens horse did give him a run for the money (Dartmouth) coming back at his charge in the dying moments. Hats off to him though he is one of the Owners that keeps this game alive all his wins are thoroughly deserved no doubt we will se him next year maybe a string of horses for the full season wouldn't suprise me and would be well welcomed up here thats for sure.

Seeded pools in the Pick 5 $50k and the Pick 4 $100k with a 20 cent minium stake.

The 123Racing wager the wager alike to all handicapping comps goes in Race 3.

Recommend Win on top selection each race then box all three selections for Ex and Tri.

Weather has been a barmy 85 degs of late but seasonal weather is moving in with a few showers .... all races are on the Tapeata main track which got rave reviews from the International contingent over the weekend.

Post Time 6:45 | All races on the Tapeata main track which is racing Fast.

Roy Steele, keys in on the excellent WOODBINE card the feature race The Pattison Canadian International - a Mile Half on the lush turf course.

The title of MYTHICAL 123Racing PICK 6 KING is up for grabs starting in Race 6.

Adhering to the normal pick 6 rules, the wager is similar to all handicapping competitions. Huge prizes to be presented by The Queen (If she is not to busy winning).

My top selection in each race is for the COMP, the other two selections in each race compliment for the exotics Ex and Tri.

All exotics have a min 20 cent wager at Woodbine. Plus Two HUGE POOLS in the Pick 4 $150k and $250k.

Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes - Race #9 at Keeneland - Approx. Post 5:30 PM ET

Late Spring won in the spring at Keeneland in a turf sprint with jockey Lanerie in the saddle as today. Since then she finished 2nd twice and 3rd once in stakes. We can draw a line through her most recent effort on a yielding course at Kentucky Downs and at a longer distance. If she repeats her runner-up effort one back (106 Equibase figure) or her winning effort here at Keeneland this spring (103 figure) she can win. Miss Ella enters the race off the two best efforts of her career, both with 104 Equibase figures. Rosario knows her very well and is likely to have her motoring strongly in the last 16th of a mile for a big piece if not the win. Fair Point won a stakes when last seen with a 104 figure on par with the other main contenders and in her first stakes try. She's never been worse than 2nd in three turf races and the ONLY jockey she's ever known (Ortiz) rides so expect another "A" effort good enough to win. Everything Lovely finished 2nd to a top female turf sprinter (Lady Shipman) last out in a similar stakes, with a field high 111 figure. Everything Lovely shows up every time like the other main contenders, and should be right there at the finish once more.

Bet Late Spring to win at odds of 3 to 1 or higher. Consider a second win bet on any of the other three contenders at odds of 7 to 2 or higher.

Play an exacta box consisting of Late Spring, Miss Ella, Fair Point and Everything Lovely.

Play an trifecta box consisting of Late Spring, Miss Ella, Fair Point and Everything Lovely.

RACE 6: Allowances/Optional Claiming | 7 Furlongs - TURF

Changewilldoyagood (12-1): Two-for-six on Belmont green, 2-for-17 doing anything else, and a winner at the trip. Lifetime best Pricci Energy Rating this course and trip but over yielding ground. Drawn well and reunites with winning rider Carmouche.

Plainview (10-1): Extremely hard hitting 8-year-old state-bred is 11-for-35 on turf, a six-time course winner, and deadly at this trip; (3) 2-1-0 slate. Top PER this class and distance, drops to winning level with Tyler Gaffalione an NY visitor. Knock is away since Dec., 2015.

Matador (20-1): Showed marked improvement winning Spa finale off barn change and takes confident rise for turf maven Mike Maker, but Irad off in favor of #4. Proven turf runner but has no experience this course or trip. Mixed signals.

Dowse’s Beach (7-2): Five time grass winner not particularly effective on Belmont turf but has winning connections all the way around. Missed by nose when returned to winning level here last out, earning excellent PER, and a winner this course and trip. Solid contender.

Hothersal (3-1): Hails from 28% Jason Servis shed and 8YO dropping from a series of G3s—second in Cliff Hanger last out at MTH. Returns with profitable spacing and gets switch to strong-finishing Antonio Gallardo. Figures not as fast but excellent class fit this level. Sold Contedner.
